Introducing the D20 Accountability Project

The D20 Accountability Project

Because Our Schools Deserve the Truth

When it comes to public education in Academy District 20, too much happens in the shadows.

Candidates make promises with no record to back them. Outside groups influence elections without transparency. And community members are left trying to make sense of confusing agendas, contradictory claims, and closed-door decisions that directly affect our kids, our neighborhoods, and our future.

That’s why we created the D20 Accountability Project, a local, nonpartisan effort to expose what’s really happening in and around our schools.

What We Do

We track. We document. We make it plain.

The D20 Accountability Project researches and monitors school board candidates, political influencers, advocacy organizations, and coordinated campaigns that shape education policy in Academy District 20. We connect the dots so community members don’t have to.

We believe citizens deserve:

  • Clear, fact-based information about who’s running and what they actually stand for.
  • Context about who’s backing them. And why.
  • Transparency around organizations operating behind the scenes.
  • Tools to take action and defend public education from manipulation.

“In a democracy, the highest office is the office of citizen.”

Justice Felix Frankfurter

United States Supreme Court, 1939-1962

Why It Matters

School boards aren’t just about budgets and buildings. They shape curriculum, set policy, approve contracts, and influence everything from classroom materials to student rights. Increasingly, they’ve become a target for political groups looking to push narrow agendas and privatize public education, often under the radar.

In Academy District 20, we’ve seen firsthand how fast misinformation can spread, how quickly outside money can flood in, and how coordinated campaigns can distort local priorities.

We’re not here to play politics. We’re here to protect the integrity of public schools.
